Who can vote?

In order to vote in NC you need to meet the following requirements:

  • Must be a US citizen.

  • Must be 18 years or older by the date of election.

  • Must be a resident of the county in which you are registered and have lived at your residential address for at least 30 days prior to the election.

  • Must not be serving a sentence for a felony conviction (including parole or probation).  If you have completed your sentence, citizenship and voting rights are automatically restored and special documentation is not required.

  • You are now required to have a valid photo ID to vote.
